Our chapter was formed and chartered in December 1999. Today we have more than 120 on our mailing list who receive an informational county newsletter. Our members also receive the statewide Challenge newsletter each month.

Our local school board changed the 10 year facilities plan shortly after it was presented to the public and declared two elementary schools as "Keeper Schools." Those two schools will not be closed, but four others will now be closed after the vote by the local board this past summer.

Many community schools are still targeted for closure in our small towns and outlying unincorporated communities - local citizens throughout this county strongly believe that they too have a "Keeper School."
